The situation

Landscaping in a rural county is seasonal and word of mouth carries a lot of it. The problem with word of mouth is that it does not scale when you need it to, and it goes quiet exactly when you need it most.

What we ran

Lead generation across Hopkins County and the towns around it, aimed at people searching for the work Hood actually does: landscape design, retaining walls, driveway and walkway paving, grading and resloping.

Each enquiry arrives with the job attached, so the crew knows before they pick up whether it is a design conversation or a wall build.

Where it landed

Forty-four leads across seven months, an average of six a month. Thirty-nine came in as phone calls, which is what happens when somebody wants a price on a retaining wall and would rather talk than type.

They came from eleven towns and counties including Yantis, Quitman, Mount Pleasant, Mount Vernon, Mineola, Hawkins, Winnsboro and Alba. That is a wider area than the business had been reaching on reputation alone.

Then we paused it

By spring the crew was booked out. More leads at that point would have meant slower callbacks and a longer wait for people who had done nothing but ring the right company, so the advertising came off and the work in hand got finished properly.

It switches back on the week they have room, with everything still in place.

How we treat your budget

We spend your ad money like it's ours.

  • We turn things off. When something stops earning its place we pause it, even when leaving it running would make this page look better. Two of the stories here are exactly that.
  • Every lead traces back. You can see what the person was actually looking for when they called, so you are not taking our word for what your money bought.
  • Sometimes the answer is spend less. We have told clients to fix three pages instead of raising a budget, and one to stop advertising for a while because they could not keep up with the work.
  • What you spend stays between us. Budgets and cost per lead are your competitive information, so they are not on this page. Yours would not be either.
